Appearance: Rai has piercing blue eyes and pale skin. His white hair is long and messy. Rai has black spikes coming off the sides of his head. He has a long jagged scar running across his back from his left shoulder blade to his right hip.
Rai wears a red undershirt with a black tie. He has a custom-made suit with white bone-like accents on his sides. The arms also end in metallic gauntlets with sharpened knife-like fingers.
Personality: Rai is a man enshrouded in shadows. He doesn't open up to people easily. Rai keeps every secret that he can. Having the ability to see into dreams, he'd need to be able to keep a secret. Rai commits shady acts but doesn't feel bad about them. He feels justified and won't take part in anything that he feels isn't justified.
Rai holds a deep-seated hatred for humans. He thinks that they're poison to the world. In order for the planet to be safe, they must evolve. Rai sees Pokemorphs and the like as humanity's way of trying to become closer to Pokemon and Gijinka. He approves of it highly and despises the Destiny Manifesto.
Rai is uncomfortable around affectionate people. He doesn't know how to approach them or to deal with them. Actually showing affectionate gestures himself are difficult for the man. His movements become stiff and his voice becomes unsure.
Rai tries to be meticulous in planning but sometimes he can't help himself. His emotions get the better of him and he rushes in recklessly. It has gotten him in trouble before which is what has led to him trying to get it under control.
Rai is a nocturnal person. He goes to sleep during the day and wanders the night.
History: Rai was born on Wand Island. Many prophecies existed about what would come of Legendary Gijinka. Rai's mother was one who actively sought out the fruition of a prophecy. As a Mismagious witch doctor, she lived out in the center of the Hanging Garden. The prophecy foretold of a creature enshrouded in shadow who would become a warrior for the Gijinka. He would fight for them. With the humans at their door, his mother performed every inch of the prophecy that she could find about the fruition of this Gijinka.
Rai was born under a Banette father. His mother used him for it and shut him out once Rai was born. She raised him to fight and to defend. She taught him about the ethereal and the unknown. Rai learned with soft wonder, curious as to what she was preparing him for.
He never got an answer from her. One day while searching for ingredients for one of his mother's poultices, he stumbled across a human. The human mentioned something about Legendary Pokemon, but his mother attacked the human before he could continue. At 14 years old, he watched the human turn the tables on her and murder his mother. Rai was filled with rage and ran at him. Before he could even get revenge, another human slashed at his back. He hit the ground and went limp. They assumed he was gone and left him for dead. But he lived.
Rai took over his mother's hut and vowed that humans were nothing but evil. Any humans that wandered too close would be put to sleep and given the most horrifying nightmares imaginable. His goal was to hurt them, not stoop to the level that the humans had with his mother.
As his control over his powers grew, he found that he could see into the dreams of his people. He could alter them for the better, even stopping a nightmare in its tracks. Some part of him felt like he could be more than just a warrior.
Rai knew that eventually he had to leave. He had to go out and meet the world. His first days among civilization were... uncomfortable. It was noisy. Disgustingly clean. And the humans controlled Pokemon... Sure, they boasted their friendships but it did not change what brought it on. They bent their wills to the trainer's.
When he heard about humans having operations to become more Pokemon-like, he was actually enthralled. This was what needed to happen! They needed to learn and to move past their shortcomings!
The Destiny Manifesto was the opposite. Rai heard about them through the whispers of dreams. He'd started a hotel that would guarantee nights of pleasant dreams. Rai was the source behind it all, but... Using it, he was able to learn all kinds of things. The Destiny Manifesto was vile. It repulsed him in every sense of the word. He convinced himself that they had to be responsible for his mother's death, whether or not they actually were. Rai didn't know how, but he felt like he needed to do something about them. For all Pokemon-kind.

Powers: Rai has the ability to see into anyone's sleeping mind and freely manipulate them into nightmares or pleasant dreams. With the right coaxing, he can even make a waking person believe their nightmare has come to life before them, though it is all a simple illusion.

Dreams were never simple. Reality blended with the most complex inner workings of the mind in order to create something new. Rai landed softly on a moonlit cliffside, brushing aside a floating crystal. This was a pleasant dream... But the dreamer was human.
He calmly stepped along, gazing at the unfocused plane of the horizon. When a dreamer wasn't directly focusing on a part of the dream, it became fragile and blurry. Colors ran together like chalk drawings being washed away from a sidewalk. Rai hurried along to enter the main part of the dream.
It was a young boy. He sat in the middle of a crater as all manner of crystals floated through the air. The boy appeared to have an Eevee by his side. Rai's gaze softened lightly. Please... be different. You can be better.
The boy blinked as a Stantler wandered into the clearing. It paused at the sight of the boy. The boy slowly stood up, reaching towards a bag at his side. Rai held his breath. It was a berry. He exhaled slowly and smiled a little. The boy offered it slowly to the Stantler. It wandered closer before nibbling at it. The boy softly pet the Stantler.
Thank you... There were no force. No vile intentions. It was only a child seeing a beautiful creature and wanting to feed it. Humans like this were beautiful. They showed more understanding. He could even see the child maybe growing up one day to want to become more like them. Rai bit his lip before summoning a crystal over to the child. It flashed before showing a reflection of the boy but as an Eevee Pokemorph. Rai stared in curiosity as the boy glanced at it. The boy seemed... confused. But curious like Rai was.
I need to stop... I'm interfering too much in the human's dream. They must change themselves! Rai got ready to float away but a voice stopped him. "Hey! Are you a Gijinka?" He froze. Rai had forgotten to make himself invisible to the dreamer. He turned to see the boy, staring up at him. "I've never seen a Pokemon like you before. What are you?"
Rai faltered. He needed to leave... But... "I am a Darkrai Gijinka. The... only one of my kind, to my knowledge." The boy frowned a little.
"That must be sad." Rai opened his mouth to deny the statement but hesitated. "I'd be sad if there was only one like me." Idle memories of Rai's mother filled his mind. He shook them away softly.
"I'm okay. At the least, there's a Darkrai somewhere. Then, I do have someone like me." The boy grinned at that and he couldn't help but smile just a little. "I... should get going."
The boy blinked. "W-Wait!" Rai tensed up as the boy ran over and hugged him. His eyes widened dramatically and he squirmed a little.
"U-Uh... Yes... Well... that's nice... Um... that's enough now!" He pushed the boy away softly and coughed, adjusting his tie. "Goodbye now. Have a good night." The boy smiled and waved as Rai floated away.
Rai floated into the blurry parts of the dream before exiting it entirely. He opened his eyes, finding himself in his room. A tense breath left him. Rai... needed a distraction. More good dreams... Not from a human.
