[[This application is not meant to be a serious, plot altering story character. He’s a fun idea I had in my head, and is used as such, unless requested by staff to change an event. He’s for the fun and enjoyment of myself and others.]]
Name: Arceus is his true name. He does not like revealing himself, so he uses multiple names, the most common of which is Morgan.
Gender: Arceus is creation. Gender is above him, although he uses male pronouns unless in his gijinka form, for ease of those referring to him, such as the author. He uses appropriate pronouns in his human form, of which there are many.
Age: Arceus is as old as the universe itself. He was there for its birth.
Species: Arceus is creation. He exists as four forms simultaneously, though only one is visible at any one time.
Appearance:
Pokemon form: Equine in shape, he’s white with a gold halo around his middle, golden hoof tips, and a flowing mane. static.zerochan.net/Arceus.full.1547748.jpg
Pokemorph form: Arceus appears as a humanoid form, retains the golden halo, now on his back. He wears flowing white robes accented heavily with gold, has golden claws, keeps his mane, and his pointed hoof-tips. static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11114/111142536/4321310-arceus_gospel_official_pic_by_legendguard-d6xl4gw.png
Gijinka form: Contrary to his other forms, he prefers a softer feminine appearance for his gijinka form. His halo looks more like an exaggerated hair clip, his mane forms into long hair, and his golden robes turn into a jacket and boots, with a black dress completing the look. orig13.deviantart.net/3925/f/2013/045/6/0/arceus_by_the_silent_angel-d5uyq7w.png
Human form: Arceus looks like any normal human in this form, although he prefers elderly forms due to elders being naturally trustworthy and respected. He can appear as anyone he pleases to be, existing or non existing. img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140509045249/villains/images/7/71/Bradley.jpg
Personality:
Arceus. The original one, the creator of all that was and ever will be. With a title like this, you would think he’d be haughty and full of himself, but amazingly, he retains a humble nature, knowing more than anyone that he himself had no choice in his own existence, he was also a product of chance and powers higher than himself. He sees himself as the guardian of creation, and actively works to help his creations get along with each other. While significant involvement in mortal affairs is rare, he enjoys living among them, interacting with his children that he loves. He is only pressed into action if a significant calamity is about to devastate a large portion of the population, such as a meteor or other apocalyptic event.
As a person, Arceus is kind and patient. He goes out of his way to help those around him, seeing others happy is his own little reward. He usually acts based on his whims, but he enjoys community centered activities, such as sitting in the park feeding pokemon, baseball games, hanging out at the beach, and going to church. His days consist of finding humans in need, of either his help or advice, and assisting them. It doesn’t even have to be anything major; he’s been known to help old women knit for their loved ones, or sit quietly in meditation.
That isn’t to say he is without sin. After all; creation was made by *him,* and no man or god is without sin. Arceus will anger if you betray him, and he *does* hold a grudge. He still[ refuses to pass the coffee creamer to Helen during after-church refreshments… fite me, Helen.
On a more serious note, he does not take betrayal kindly. He has been known to level an entire settlement when the leaders tried to kill him… but that was in the dark ages.
He has a distinct distaste toward Giratina, but tolerates him as long as he doesn’t cause trouble. Originally, Giratina had to be banned to the reverse world due to his violent nature.
What else can be said about the personality of a god? He has his own plans beyond our comprehension. I am here as a vehicle to chronicle his thoughts and adventures in the current time, a voice for the people.
History:
In the beginning, there was an egg. There was nothing but this egg. How or why, where it came from, all are a mystery to everyone including Arceus himself, yet he hatched from this very egg, a harbinger to all of creation, the very engine of reality itself. Arceus then created Time, and Dialga to watch over it. He created Space, and Palkia to watch over it. For every action, there must be an opposite reaction; you cannot have matter without its opposite, light must have its darkness, and he created Giratina as master of this negative energy, this antimatter. Due to his violent, aggressive nature, he was banished to the reverse world, an alternate dimension where logic makes no sense. Thus, the universe, and as a result the Earth came into being, and existed in a stable state. This is the story of creation.
Arceus co existed with his creations for a time, and they worshipped him as a God; as well as they should, for he is. The prehistoric mortals became jealous and fearful of the things they couldn’t understand, and sought to overthrow him and “steal” his power; this was the First Wrath, which almost ended in the extinction of the gijinka population of earth. Arceus’s Judgment comes down harsh on those that seek to betray him.
The Pokemon of the earth grew angry, restless, retaliatory because of the first wrath. They believed the gijinka were responsible for the near destruction of their way of life. Arceus needed a way for pokemon to live in peace with the other race… thus, Humans were created. None of the features of pokemon, but blessed with the ability to work with them, friend them easier, soothe their wild spirits. Life could finally start its slow march toward the modern era, one century at a time.
It was not always a peaceful march, though. Arceus had to intervene on one or two wars too grand to ignore, though he mostly preferred to stay out of mortal affairs if he could help it. That being said, there was one thing he couldn’t stand by and watch; the extinction of his work. A meteor the size of a moon on a collision course with earth, the certain end of an entire planet. Selecting his draconic plate, he summoned a draco meteor so powerful, had it not been for the endless depths of space, it too could have ended all life on the planet. The two collided in a spectacular explosion, one felt around the globe and became known as The Day of Life.
With an attack so powerful, Arceus was forced into a century of slumber to recover. One being took notice. Giratina took that as his cue to escape from the reverse world and rampage across the globe, creating the Dark Ages. Progress was halted, no one dared invent new technology, art, or explore the earth when Giratina could be around any corner, ready to attack. When Arceus finally awoke, he was furious. Quelling the beast’s rage, he banished Giratina back to the reverse world, heralding the beginning of the Renaissance era, and the eventual march into modern times.
Arceus now coexists with his creations, but not on the same level as before. He prefers to live disguised, hidden among them as one of their own, to enjoy their life, their vibrancy, their spirits, the way they interact with each other, the bonds they form. He watches over them, gives advice to those that call on his name, acts as he would want them to act; random kindness, altruism, comradery.
The following will sound incredibly overpowered… and it is. Remember; this is a story/fun character I’m not going to use for fighting or altering plot.
Moves:In story mode, Arceus created all moves, and can use any on a whim (except where it wouldn’t make sense, such as wing attack without physical wings).
If he were ever to get in an actual battle with a player character, his moveset would be as follows:
Judgment
Recover
Gravity
Protect
Ability: Multitype
Powers: Arceus is the God of creation. He created the universe and everything in it. He could easily end all life on earth on a whim, but he has no want or reason to. He holds the power of all types, however he can select one of his speciality plates to become increasingly attuned to that specific element. He may be a God, however he is not omniscient nor omnipresent, he has a physical form at a physical location and cannot read minds; though being the creator of life and how they work, he’s entirely skilled at reading people. He is not omnipresent, but he can choose where to be at any given time.
Pokemon Owned: None.
[--- SAMPLE RP ---]
An old man sat in a pew of a church equally as old, singing along faithfully to one of the many hymns that would be performed that morning. Was he that vain, that he would sit in on on his own worship service? Perhaps… Or maybe it was just the repetition, seeing the same familiar faces week after week, and some of the nicest ones too. It also gave him opportunities to listen, to teach, to interact with the creations he loved so much. Today’s sermon was one he always enjoyed… the creation of humans, and God’s intention for their lives. He would note that the preacher was human; each race’s interpretation of of the human creation story was different, and it was never the same thing twice. After the service had let out and the congregation had exited to the fellowship hall for refreshments, Morgan approached the pastor for word with him.
“Ah, Morgan!” Pastor Inman greeted him, taking off his stole and robe as he talked. “It is always a pleasure. To what do I owe this honor?” The man was his peer, a fellow elder of the church, wrinkled with age and experience. He had dedicated his life to the Church, preaching God’s word to the people and teaching them the ways of Arceus. Morgan knew he viewed him as just another parishioner offering helpful advice… and that was fine. There was no need for him—or any of his creations—to know the truth, lest they do what humans are apt to do and needlessly gush.
“Father Inman,” Morgan greeted with familiarity the way only an old friend could, “same as always. This old man just wanted to offer up his thoughts on your sermon is all, if you’ll do him the satisfaction of suffering through them.” His reward was a chuckle from the pastor.
“Of course, Morgan. You know I always appreciate your unique insight. Sometimes you can be so profound, I wonder if you have a direct line to God.” Both men got a good chuckle out of that one, and for very different reasons. Inman settled into the chair behind his large and cluttered executive desk, filled to the brim with all sorts of papers involved with running a church.
“Now I’m nothing special Father, you’re the one dedicating your life to God. Still… I had to wonder about something you mentioned in your sermon.” This got him an intrigued look, one that bid him to continue. “You said that God created humans to… control pokemon, command them, shape them as one would shape tools, lest they run amuck unguided and uncivilized; yes, the Bible does say that God created Humans to control pokemon, but I[ think that God created humans to guide pokemon, to understand them, to work hand in hand with the pokemon race as equals, you know?”
“That’s an interesting viewpoint, Morgan,” the pastor offered, mulling it over. “If it is as you say… why then do humans have such a strong command over pokemon, far exceeding any known species on earth? God made all things for a reason, Morgan… I think most people would agree that helping God’s lesser creations to do good deeds in his name is the most beneficial and humane way to coexist. Pokemon attack human settlements, Morgan. They snub God’s very existence by not showing reverence nor worship.” The pastor’s rebuttal… bothered him, yes, but he was used to human ignorance and superiority. If it still affected him, there was no way he would have lasted this long… or even created them as such.
“With all due respect, Father… how do you truly know unless you walk among them? I believe the key to understanding would be to ask a gijinka about their thoughts on the matter; they are naturally much more in tune with nature and the pokemon that reside there. God may have made all things with purpose in mind, but we as his creations must seek to understand those purposes with clarity and not bias. Pokemon attack human settlements, but only after humans encroach upon their lands. They are not as wild and unguided as you think… they are very complex thinking and feeling creatures.”
“I don’t doubt you Morgan, but if they’ve shown signs of praising God or furthering his cause, I’ve never seen it myself.” Morgan could tell he was getting a bit agitated, as one usually does when their philosophy was questioned. It was okay, though. He’d planted the seed… he didn’t need to change the pastor’s mind right there and then. He held his hands out in a conceding gesture.
“Very well Father, you are God’s mouthpiece on these matters.” The irony that he was literally arguing with God did not escape him; he had to keep from smiling too hard.
“Even so… I do appreciate your concern. You never cease to amaze me, Morgan. Always thinking about the least of us, even the pokemon. One wonders why you aren’t in my position.” He let out a chuckle and took a sip of his coffee, organizing some papers. Morgan took this as his sign to leave. He gave a nod to the old man.
“Now Father, we both know I don’t have the patience to deal with all of those old[ people.” Both men laughed again; many of the “old” people were younger than they were. It was certainly a joke among peers, not meant to demean the congregation in any way. “I suppose I should let you get back to doing what you do best, keeping this place open and available as a place of worship and fellowship.” He gave the other a nod.
“Alright then Mister Morgan; take it easy now.” Morgan took his leave of the pastor’s presence, making his way outside, considering what the pastor had said. It wasn’t surprising, really… most races had their own self centered interpretations of the scriptures, something he’d always tried to rectify when he could, as he did today. What would God do today? He looked up at the clear blue skies; whatever he wanted to. Whatever it was, you could be sure it would benefit mankind somehow. Or gijinkakind. Or pokemonkind. Arceus loved his creations… and as he gazed at the church that now loomed above him, or thought of the shrines and tribal celebrations of the gijinka, or the simple respect pokemon held for him when he passed, he knew they loved him too.
